In ancient days when early man

Feared the sound of thunder,

He then conceived an angry god

To explain the awesome wonder.

And so it went for all events

And powers great or odd;

With no apparent cause extant

Man made another god.

As years advanced and knowledge grew

Those gods have gone away.

No God of Wind, no God of Fire,

No God of Night or Day.

But I have proof of some grand power

Who tracks me from on high;

His eerie acts are evidence

All science to defy.

No physical law, no act of chance

Accounts for what I’ve seen;

There IS a God of Traffic Lights...

I never get a green!
