Optimism's hard to hold When every day it seems Necessity commands the reins And tramples on your dreams. The past and present often blind Our eyes so we can't see; But vision need not be confined, To how things used to be. The future is not shackled by The chains of failures past; When guided by the hopeful eye Our dreams can be surpassed.
