I see you on your blanket with your rattles and your toys; You're smiling and you're laughing with a happy sounding noise. As I listen to you chatter in your own peculiar way, I live for that grand moment when I finally hear you say, ""Daddy."" And I look ahead a year or two, see you wobblin' on your skates; And I look a little further, see you frettin' over dates. And I look so hard, with wishful heart, as each day meets its end, That through the years that lie ahead you'll always have a friend You'll call ""Daddy.""
