Poets describe our emotions

With words that embrace all the hues

Of the colors you find in the rainbow,

And such are the colors they choose:

Red is the color of courage,

Sadness is tinted blue.

Cowardice comes in yellow,

In imagery this is true.

But I have found there’s an emotion

Whose color is verily real;

Not just some symbolic icon

That you cannot see, touch, and feel.

When Monte’s new jade-colored Harley

Came thundering onto the scene,

I saw in its deep lacquered finish

That envy is actually green!
