A BIG MAN IN A SMALL CIRCLE

How blinding is the spotlightThat casts my shadow longWithin the many circlesWherein I may belong. How transient the gloryOf position or of fame; How meaningless the tally sheetOf those who know my name. But, oh, how soon my heart takes rootAnd firmly holds it's groundWhen welcomed home by wife and kidsWho quickly gather 'round. In their love am I fulfilled; And thus I clearly seeA big man in this circle smallIs all I need to be.
