The darker thoughts come creeping forth From prisons in my mind Where they've remained in banishment Since faith had them confined. Despair and fear and doubt and dread Are masters of escape Who overpower guards of hope When faith gets out of shape. Yes, faith requires nourishment From fountains proven pure; Heavenly truths that calm the soul Can make the mind secure. The power of prayer, the written word, The thoughts that so inspire, Are needed daily in my life For faith to keep it's fire. And succored strong my hope shall stand And all despair defeat; 'Til faith perfects to knowledge and My victory's complete.
